General Overview
BISD is accepting OPEN ENROLLMENT transfers of residents and non-residents students. Transfers are considered on a case-by case basis and require approval by the superintendent or his/her designee. Criteria for approval includes good grades, discipline, attendance, and passing all sections of the most recent TAKS or other recognized test if TAKS is not available (kindergarten, second grade, private schools, parochial schools or home schools).
BISD will accept applications for grade levels kindergarten (K) -12th grade for schools which have been declared “Open” based on campus capacity. The number of openings for transfer students in grades K-5 is limited. Transfer applications will be processed on a first-come basis. Preference is given to children of BISD full-time employees and students that are already in attendance at the requested campus. All other students will continue to be accepted pending eligibility and available space. There will not be a tuition fee for out-of-district students for the curent school year; however, this waiver will be reviewed in successive years.
Completed applications will be reviewed by an administrator in the office of student services and the campus principal to determine final disposition. Parents will be notified electronically of the status of the application. Once the application has been approved by both the campus principal and student services, the parent should make a copy of the approval and call the individual campus to make arrangements for registration. If an application is denied based on campus/program capacity, the office of student services will assist the parent with options in choosing a campus that has available capacity. |
